Poland took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 37 athletes (30 men and 7 women) in 28 competitions in five competitions.
Only boxer Aleksy Antkiewicz managed to win a medal with bronze in featherweight, which was also included in the medal table of nations. Zbigniew Turski was named Olympic champion in the orchestral music competition for his “Olympic Symphony” . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Mieczysław Łomowski .
