Poland took part in the VII Winter Olympics in 1956 in the Italian municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo with a delegation of 51 athletes in six disciplines, of which 44 were men and 7 women. With bronze, Franciszek Gąsienica Groń wonthe only medal for Poland in the Nordic Combined at these games.
