Kazimierz Chodakowski (born June 20, 1929 in Łódź ; † October 21, 2017 there ) was a Polish ice hockey player who played most of his career at ŁKS Łódź . He was Polish champion six times with Legia Warsaw in the 1950s. His son Andrzej also played for the ŁKS Łódź and Legia Warsaw in the Ekstraliga .

Career

Kazimierz Chodakowski began his career as an ice hockey player at ŁKS Łódź in his hometown, for which he already took part in the Polish championship games at the age of 18. In 1951 he moved to the then top club Legia Warsaw , with whom he was Polish national champion six times from 1952 to 1957 . After the sixth title he left the capital city club and returned to his hometown, where he laced his boots for the ŁKS Łódź for 15 years. With the club from central Poland he played mainly in the Ekstraliga . Only from 1961 to 1963 and in the 1968/69 season he had to compete with his team in the second-class I league . In 1972 he ended his career at the age of 43. He then worked for two years as the assistant coach of his home club.

Chodakowski, who was known for his qualities in the body check, was considered one of the best Polish defenders of the 1950s.

International

Chodakowski took part with the Polish national team at the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 and in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956 , in which the Poles finished sixth (1952) and eighth (1956). In addition to these two tournaments, which were also rated as World Championships, he also played at the A World Championships in 1955 , 1957 , 1958 and 1959 . The defender scored 14 goals in 84 international matches for Poland.
