Andrzej Gąsienica Daniel (born March 13, 1932 in Zakopane ; † August 31, 1991 ibid) was a Polish ski jumper .

Career

Gąsienica Daniel was 1955 in the individual competition in Zakopane tied with Antoni Wieczorek Polish champion . Three years later he was able to jump on the podium again in a championship competition with a third place in Wisła .

Gąsienica Daniel started in the Four Hills Tournament 1957/58 for his first and only international tournament. After a good 16th place on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he was only able to maintain this performance to a limited extent. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he finished 24th on the Great Olympic Hill, before finishing 12th on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck . He finished the tour with the 27th place on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen and thus reached rank 15 in the tour's overall ranking.

Personal

Andrzej was the older brother of the cross-country skier Helena Gąsienica Daniel-Lewandowska , the ski jumper Józef Gąsienica Daniel , the alpine skier Maria Gąsienica Daniel-Szatkowska and the winter sportsman Franciszek Gąsienica Daniel . Andrzej had a daughter.

In 1980 Gąsienica Daniel suffered from unilateral paralysis . After his death in 1991 he was buried in the New Cemetery in Zakopane .
