Johannes Holt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johannes Holt († May 29, 1432 in Hamburg ) was a German theologian, university professor and canon.

Life

Johannes Holt enrolled in 1427 as a graduate and lecturer at the University of Rostock with the indication of origin "Wesenburensis, Bremer Diöcese", where he was already a Dr. the theology and rector of the church there, presumably at the Bartholomäuskirche in Wesselburen in Dithmarschen , which at that time belonged to the Archdiocese of Bremen . He is named professor of theology for Rostock, although according to its statutes laid down by the Pope the university was not allowed to have a theological faculty; she was only allowed to do this in 1432. In the same year he became rector of the university for the first time. In 1431 he left Rostock and became the first lector and canon at Hamburg Cathedral as the successor to Heinrich von Geismar , who had also worked in Rostock . Holt's successor was Professor Borchard Plotze from Rostock .
