Career

At the beginning of his career, Daniel Krzeptowski started for SN PTT Zakopane , which was the most successful sports club in Zakopane at the time. He already demonstrated his talent among the juniors, but he had to interrupt his career due to the outbreak of World War II . After initially working as a courier, he came to France in 1940 , where he joined the Polish army . Daniel Krzeptowski was a prisoner of war in Stalag XI B from 1940 until the end of the war and a forced laborer in a coal mine .

After his release, Daniel Krzeptowski returned to sports. In 1947, for example, he took part in the International Ski Week in Chamonix , where he finished fifth in the combined competition. Daniel Krzeptowski demonstrated his versatility at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz when he was rated in all three Nordic skiing disciplines. He achieved his best individual result with 22nd place in the combination. At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , he received an Olympic ID from the Olympic Committee, but did not take part in any competition. Four years later he went to the Olympic combined competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo and finished 29th with 396.1 points.

Daniel Krzeptowski won six competitions at the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in Zakopane in his career , four of them in Nordic Combined and one each in ski jumping and 18 km cross-country skiing. At national level, he won a total of 21 medals and was Polish champion twelve times.

On November 17, 2000, he was appointed second lieutenant in the Polish army by the Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski . After his death in August 2002, he was buried in the New Cemetery in Zakopane .
