Jan Raszka (born December 2, 1928 in Wisła ; † February 5, 2007 ibid) was a Polish Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Raszka, who also competed in ski jumping, cross-country skiing, slalom and downhill competitions, began skiing during the German occupation of Poland . Against strong competition from Zakopane Raszka was able to achieve successes again and again at national level and in 1952 win the Polish championship in Nordic combined. In 1953 Raszka won at the Academic World Winter Games on the Semmering, among others, together with Tadeusz Kwapień in the relay bronze. At the prestigious Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in 1954, he also won an international level and was also able to achieve a good result in fourth place in the special jumping event . After he missed the Olympic Games in 1948 due to a broken leg and in 1952, he was used at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , but could only be the fourth-best Pole as 32nd. After finishing seventh in the Polish championships over 50 km in 1966, Raszka ended his career.

After the end of his sporting career, Raszka worked as a trainer and also ran a sports shop.
