Peru took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 41 male athletes in 26 competitions in seven sports.

In sport shooting, Edwin Vásquez was Olympic champion with the free pistol . The weightlifter Carlos Domínguez was the standard bearer at the opening ceremony.
