Eduardo Julve

Eduardo Julve Ciriaco (born August 27, 1923 in Chincha Alta ) is a former Peruvian athlete who was South American discus champion in 1954 .

Julve took second place behind his compatriot Manuel Consiglieri at the South American Championships in Santiago de Chile in 1943 with 41.64 meters in the discus throw . Julve also won the silver medal in the decathlon , with 6046 points he was 23 points behind the Chilean Juan Colín . In 1947 in Rio de Janeiro , Julve again won two silver medals. With 44.07 meters he was about one meter behind the Chilean Karsten Brodersen in the discus throw ; in the decathlon he reached 6,460 points, but the Argentine Enrique Kistenmacher won clearly with 7011 points. In 1947 Julve also set his personal best in the discus throw with 48.53 meters.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 Julve reached the final with 45.86 meters, but there he only managed 44.05 meters, which meant twelfth place. In the decathlon, Julve gave up after the first day. At the South American Championships in Lima in 1949 , he threw the discus at 43.905 meters and finished fourth, 24 centimeters behind the bronze medal. In the decathlon Kistenmacher won again, 157 points behind the Uruguayan Hércules Azcune , Julve won the bronze medal. After Julve had finished fourth in the discus throw again in Buenos Aires in 1952 , he achieved his greatest success in 1954 in São Paulo . Eduardo Julve won the gold medal with 47.44 meters and almost one meter ahead of Chilean Hernán Haddad . In 1956 in Santiago he finished fourth again with 45.49 meters.
