South American Athletics Championships 1943

The XIII. The South American Athletics Championships took place in Santiago de Chile from April 23 to May 2, 1943 . For the first time athletes from Colombia were at the start, but the Brazilian team was missing. The most successful athletes were the Argentine sprinter Adelio Márquez and the Chilean long-distance runner Raúl Inostroza with three wins each. The most successful participant was Edith Klempau from Chile with three wins and two second places.

Men's competitions

The men's team championship was won by Chile with 146 points, ahead of the Argentines with 96 points and the Peruvian team with 25 points. Uruguay got 16 points, Bolivia got 6 points and Colombia got no point.
