1929 South American Athletics Championships
The VI. South American Championships in Athletics were held from the 5th to the 10th of May in Lima instead, with Peru first appeared as organizer. All previous championships had taken place in April.
While the Uruguayans were missing this time, athletes from Bolivia competed for the first time, but they could not win a medal. The team championship was won by the Argentine team with 78 points, ahead of the Chileans with 50 points and Peru with 4 points. The most successful athlete was the Argentine sprinter Hérnan Spinassi with three titles including the relay.
