Ricardo Bayer

Richard "Ricardo" Bayer (* 1904 ; † unknown) was a Chilean athlete who took eighth place in the hammer throw at the 1928 Olympic Games .

Bayer took third place in the hammer throw at the 1926 South American Athletics Championships with 43.77 meters behind the Argentines Federico Kleger and Luis Romana . The following year, Kleger won ahead of the Chilean Pedro Goic , Bayer threw 45.70 meters and received the bronze medal again, although he was only four centimeters behind Goic.

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928, six throwers reached the final, the places behind were ranked according to their placement in the qualification. No hammer thrower from South America reached the final, but in the list of results Kleger is seventh with 46.61 meters and Bayer is eighth with 46.34 meters.

In 1929 Ricardo Bayer had his personal best of 51.69 meters. At the South American Championships in 1929 Bayer won his third bronze medal in a row with 46.415 meters. In 1935 Bayer finished third again, with 45.705 meters he was only 30 centimeters behind the Chilean winner Antonio Barticevic .

At a height of 1.86 meters, Bayer's competition weight was 92 kilograms.
