1933 South American Athletics Championships
The VIII. South American Athletics Championships took place from April 6 to 9, 1933 in Montevideo . The team championship was won by the Argentine team with 145 points ahead of the Chileans with 54 points. Behind them, the Uruguayan team received 36 points and Brazil 34 points. The most successful athlete was the Brazilian hurdler Sylvio Padilha with two titles and a second place. The Chilean Manuel Plaza won the cross-country race and the road race, which was held for the first time, and thus won his 13th and 14th titles.
