South American Athletics Championships 1931

The VII. South American Athletics Championships took place from April 30 to May 5, 1931 in Buenos Aires . The team competition was won by the Argentine team with 141 points ahead of the Chileans with 84 points. Behind them, the Brazilians taking part for the first time, whose coaching staff included the multiple German long jump champion Rudolf Dobermann , received 47 points ahead of the teams in Uruguay with 10 and Peru with 2 points. The most successful athlete was the Argentine sprinter Carlos Bianchi with three titles including the relay. The Argentine high jumper Valerio Vallanía and the Argentine triple jumper Luis Brunetto each won their fifth gold medal in a row.
