South American Athletics Championships 1965

The XXIII. The South American Athletics Championships were held from May 8 to 16, 1965 in Rio de Janeiro . The most successful participant was the Venezuelan sprinter Victor Maldonado with three gold medals. In the women's race, Marta Buongiorno from Argentina won two gold medals and one silver medal.

Men's competitions

The men's team championship was won by the Brazilian team with 171 points, ahead of the Argentines with 148 points and the Venezuelans with 141 points. Behind the Chileans with 88 points, the Colombians achieved 50 points, followed by Uruguay with 24 points and Peru with 22 points.
