from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miguel A. Castro (* 1969 ) is an American computer scientist.

Castro studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , where he worked in the Programming Methodology Group on object-oriented databases and Byzantine fault tolerance . He works at Microsoft Research as a Principal Researcher. He works across distributed systems, networks and security issues. With Peter Druschel and Ant Rowstron (Antony Rowstron) he worked on the Pastry technology for overlay networks with peer-to-peer , used in the group communication software Scribe (used by Microsoft in customer relationship management for example ) and in SplitStream(Distribution of streaming content). The corresponding essays are among the highly cited works.

In 2011 he received the Mark Weiser Award .
