Brazil took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 70 athletes (59 men and 11 women) in 41 competitions in eleven sports.

The Brazilian athletes won a bronze medal, placing Brazil in 34th place in the medal table. The medal was won by the men's basketball team. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Sylvio Padilha .
