The Schellenberger Bach rises between the Essen districts Stadtwald and Heisingen at an altitude of about 145  m above sea level. NHN in the Schellenberger Forest near Heisinger Strasse .

It flows to the northeast through the forest, still crosses the federal highway 227 ( Wuppertaler Straße ) and finally flows north of Heisingen at an altitude of about 40.5  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Ruhr .
