history

The square village Nöbeln, built on the edge of the Slavic Kleingaus Rochlitz, was called Nibeldowe in 1350 . The German meaning of the place name is nebelige Aue . Ecclesiastically, the place has always been parish to Wechselburg. Until 1856 Nöbeln belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz . The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Nöbeln came under the administration of the Rochlitz court office in 1856 and in 1875 under the newly established Rochlitz administration .

The neighboring towns of Meusen and Göppersdorf were incorporated into Nöbeln on July 1, 1950. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the municipality of Nöbeln was incorporated into the Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). The neighboring village of Hartha was incorporated on January 1, 1969 and Seitenhain on April 6, 1972.

The municipality of Nöbeln with its four districts belonged from 1990 to the Saxon district of Rochlitz , which was merged in 1994 in the Mittweida district and in 2008 in the central Saxony district. On January 1, 1994, Nöbeln and its four districts were incorporated into Wechselburg.
