history

Farm in Mutzscheroda

Mutzscheroda, four kilometers northwest of Wechselburg, was mentioned as Mutzschenroda in 1433 . The square village is a Slavic foundation, which is indicated by the shape of the corridor and the place name. The place name means "clearing on black, musty ground". Ecclesiastically, Mutzscheroda has always been part of Wechselburg.

Although Mutzscheroda as an official village belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz until 1856 , it had certain obligations towards the Schönburg regional rule of Wechselburg . This was u. a. the right of inheritance to keep a feudal horse and to do the footbridges to the Zwickauer Mulde. The rule of Wechselburg was also entitled to inheritance jurisdiction over the place. The nearby porphyry quarries were of economic importance for Mutzscheroda . From 1856 Mutzscheroda belonged to the Rochlitz court office and from 1875 to the Rochlitz administration .

Through the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Mutzscheroda was incorporated into the Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). Carsdorf was incorporated on June 20, 1957 .

The community Mutzscheroda with Carsdorf belonged from 1990 to the Saxon district of Rochlitz , which became in 1994 in the district Mittweida and in 2008 in the district central Saxony. The municipality of Mutzscheroda merged with Wechselburg, Göhren and Nöbeln to form the new municipality of Wechselburg on January 1, 1994 , making Mutzscheroda and Carsdorf districts of Wechselburg.
