history

View of Göppersdorf

The Waldhufendorf Göppersdorf was mentioned in 1378 as Gotfritsdorf . Probably the place was created around 1170 as a German clearing village on the edge of the Rochlitz old settlement area. Originally the place belonged to the property of the Zschillen monastery . This came in 1543 with the entire property to Duke Moritz von Sachsen , who immediately secularized it and exchanged it for the Lords of Schönburg for the places Hohnstein , Wehlen and Lohmen in today's Saxon Switzerland . Therefore, the name Wechselburg came up for the place and the monastery complex. Since then, Göppersdorf has been run as an official village of the Schönburg rule, Wechselburg , which belonged to the Lords of Schönburg under Wettin suzerainty. Ecclesiastically, Göppersdorf has always been part of Wechselburg.

As part of the administrative reorganization of the Kingdom of Saxony, Göppersdorf was subordinated to the administration of the royal Saxon office of Rochlitz as part of the Schönburg feudal lordship of Wechselburg in 1835 . In 1856 Göppersdorf came to the Rochlitz court office and in 1875 to the newly established Rochlitz administration .

Göppersdorf was incorporated into Nöbeln on July 1, 1950 . By the second district reform in the GDR in 1952 the community was Nöbeln with its districts the county Rochlitz in the district of Chemnitz (in 1953 the district Karl-Marx-Stadt renamed) attached, the 1990 Saxon Rochlitz district was continued and 1994 in Mittweida or Rose in 2008 in the district of central Saxony. On January 1, 1994, Nöbeln and its four districts were incorporated into Wechselburg, making Göppersdorf a district of Wechselburg ever since.
