Luther Trail Saxony
The Lutherweg Sachsen (also Lutherweg in Sachsen ) is a 550 kilometer long circular hiking trail in Saxony .
The first section from Torgau to Bad Düben was opened in September 2011 by the Saxon Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich . Representatives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony and Central Germany as well as the Catholic Church took part in this celebration . The Free State of Saxony is funding the project with 660,000 euros. The total costs should be 800,000 euros. In addition to the Free State, the hiking trail is also financed by the participating municipalities. In addition, the European Union is contributing to the financing of the project with EU funds .
The state project for the Luther Decade (2008–2017) serves to prepare for the anniversary “500 years of the Reformation” in 2017. One goal of the path is to connect Martin Luther's and other reformers' places of activity and to track down the effects of the Reformation in Saxony. The Luther Trail Saxony is connected to the Luther Trail Saxony-Anhalt and the Luther Trail Thuringia . This network of trails also includes the Luther Trail Bavaria and the approximately 400 km long Luther Trail 1521 , which connects Worms with the Wartburg near Eisenach .
The route was based on a working document drawn up by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony .
