Schönbach is a district of the city of Colditz in the Leipzig district in Saxony . It is located on the northern edge of the Colditzer Forest and has about 550 inhabitants. The Parthe rises nearby .

On April 10, 1306, Schönbach was first mentioned in a document.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Zschetzsch was incorporated.

Until December 31, 2010, Schönbach was a district of Großbothen .
