Podelwitz has been a district of the Saxon city of Colditz in the Leipzig district since 2011 , previously the place was a district of Zschadraß .
geography
Podelwitz is located south of the Freiberg Mulde . In the village, two district roads cross each other, making the connection to the surrounding villages. There is a bus stop in Podelwitz. The town limits in the north on Erlln , Maaschwitz and Tanndorf , in the east and south-east on Skoplau and in the south on Commichau . In the west, the district of the place Collmen joins. All surrounding places are part of the city of Colditz.
history
In 1217 a Wernherus de Podeluz was first mentioned in a document, who had his seat in the water castle Podelwitz . The place belonged from the 16th century to the office Colditz. The manorial rule exercised the Podelwitz manor . With the Saxon rural community order of 1838 , the village got the status of a rural community , whose affiliation is indicated from 1875 with the district administration Grimma .
In 1900 the local boundary had a size of 216 hectares , which mainly consisted of manor blocks. Here the villagers went about farming . The houses in the estate were loosely arranged. Of the 248 inhabitants in 1925, 230 were Evangelical Lutheran , seven Catholic and eleven others of other religions. Podelwitz was parish in the neighboring Collmen and today belongs to the parish of Collmen-Zschadraß.
After the Second World War , Podelwitz became part of the Soviet occupation zone and later the GDR , in whose district reform in 1952 Podelwitz was added to the Grimma district. On January 1st of the same year the community lost its independence and was incorporated into Tanndorf . In addition, the moated castle was transferred to the community.
After reunification and reunification , Podelwitz came to the newly founded Free State of Saxony and remained in the Grimma district . In the first Saxon district reform , the Tanndorf community and its districts moved to the Muldental district . There it was incorporated into Zschadraß on January 1, 1996 , which has belonged to the city of Colditz since January 1, 2011.
