Hohnbach is a district of the city of Colditz in the Leipzig district in Saxony .
Location and accessibility
Hohnbach is about 3 km southwest of the city of Colditz and can be reached via the B 107 and S44.
history
There is evidence that a clay pit was built in Hohnbach as early as 1157 . As a settlement, Hohnbach was first mentioned in documents in 1368 as a street perch village with a manor. In the Schmalkaldic War , Hohnbach was almost completely devastated on April 22, 1547. There was a manor in the village .
At the end of April 1945 the village was badly affected by American tank shelling. Due to the influx of Silesian and East Prussian refugees in the post-war years , the district had about 700 inhabitants and was one of the largest districts of the city of Colditz. Today approx. 260.
