history

1215, the Lords of donated Colditz the Klosterbuch two talenta in their village Bockwitz. The certificate is very difficult to read. There are two other, undated, documents from the Lords of Colditz. In the first, they transferred the entire village of Bukewiz to the monastery , with the obligation to use two talenta for a servitium . In the other, Thiemo von Colditz alone transferred 2 more hooves to the monastery in Bukewiz . In this document, however, it is stated that Brother Dietrich has already been buried in the monastery and that the father also wants to be buried there. The only Dietrich among the Lords of Colditz who was eligible for this died in 1215. The Lords of Colditz had chosen the monastery for their family burial place. The Servitium, generally an additional meal for the monks in recognition of their service to the memory of the dead, also points in this direction.

In 1548, the Buch zu Bockwitz monastery inheritance book names “12 possessed men, including 8 horse men, 11 of which are lendable to the Buch monastery and 1 man to the Colditz office” with 12¾ hooves. The upper court and the inheritance court were at the monastery.

On January 1, 1952, the previously independent municipality of Meuselwitz was incorporated.

The independent community was affiliated to the community of Zschadraß in 1991 and has belonged to Colditz since January 1, 2011.
