The 2014 European elections in Ireland took place on May 23, 2014 as part of the 2014 EU- wide European elections . In Ireland , eleven of the 751 Members of the European Parliament were elected, one less than in 2009 .

Electoral system and constituencies

Elections were made in three multi-person constituencies with transferable individual votes . By reducing the number of Irish MPs from twelve to eleven, the number of constituencies has also been reduced from four to three:

  • Dublin (as before, 3 seats)
  • South (extended by 5 counties, 4 seats)
  • Midlands-North-West (parts of the previous constituencies North-West and East, 4 seats).
