Liadh Ní Riada [ ˈlʲiə niː ˈɾiəd̪ə ] (born November 28, 1966 in Dublin ) is an Irish politician of the Sinn Féin and former member of the European Parliament .

Life

Her father is the composer Seán Ó Riada . In the 2014 European elections , she was elected to the European Parliament in the South constituency , where she was a member of the GUE / NGL Group in the Committee on Budgets , the Committee on Fisheries and the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China. In 2019 , she was unable to defend her mandate and initially requested a complete recount of the votes in the South constituency, which was decided on May 30. On June 5, Ní Riada withdrew the request for a recount and thus left parliament.

In the presidential election on October 26, 2018 , she ran for Sinn Féin, but received only 6.4%.
