European elections in Ireland 1979
The 1979 European elections in Ireland were the first direct election of members of the European Parliament in Ireland . It took place on June 10, 1979 as part of the 1979 EU- wide European elections . In Ireland, 15 of the 410 seats were awarded, for which 46 candidates applied. The election was carried out using the transferable individual voting procedure in four constituencies .
