The European elections in Greece on October 18, 1981 were the first elections to the European Parliament after Greece joined the European Community on January 1, 1981. They took place parallel to the national parliamentary elections. Greece was entitled to 24 seats in the European Parliament, which had previously been occupied by members elected by the national parliament.

Result

As in the national parliamentary election, the socialist PASOK became the strongest party, while the conservative ND, which had ruled until then, only became the second strongest party. Compared to the national election, however, smaller parties, especially parties to the left of PASOK, were able to achieve more votes. While only three parties entered the national parliament, six parties were able to win seats in the European Parliament.
