The group of the European Democratic Alliance was a Gaullist , conservative group in the European Parliament .
history
The parliamentary group was formed on January 21, 1965 when the French Gaullists split off from the Liberal and Democratic parliamentary group under the name European Democratic Union (not to be confused with the European Democratic Union ). On January 16, 1973, the Irish Fianna Fáil joined the group, which was then renamed the Group of European Progressive Democrats (European Progressive Democrats). On July 24, 1984, the group was finally renamed the Group of the rallying movement of European Democrats. On July 6, 1995, the group merged with Forza Europa to form the Union for Europe group . In 1999, some of the French and Italian members of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats joined, and some of the previous members joined the new Union for a Europe of Nations Group .
