Union for Europe was a political group in the European Parliament . It emerged in July 1995 from the merger of the group of the European Democrats' rallying movement with the Forza Europa group, which had only Italian members . Its members are described as Gaullist, conservative and / or populist. It was the third largest group in the European Parliament when it was founded .
In 1995 and 1996, the four members of the Centro Cristiano Democratico moved to the Group of the European People's Party (EPP). In February 1997, two Forza Italia members moved to the Liberal Democratic Group. In June 1998, the majority of Forza Italia, with 21 MPs, finally moved to the EPP Group. After the European elections in 1999 , the RPR also switched to the EPP group, while CDS-PP and Fianna Fail participated in the establishment of the new Union for Europe of the Nations group.
