Elections for the Dáil Éireann 2007
The elections for the Dáil Éireann 2007 took place on May 24, 2007 . The members of the 30th Dáil were determined.
Result 2007
Prime Minister Bertie Ahern's Fianna Fáil party dominated the elections. According to the preliminary final result, it was the strongest force with 41.6 percent of the votes ( First Preference Votes ) and held 78 of the 166 seats in the 30th Dáil. Their previous coalition partner, the Progressive Democrats , lost six of their eight seats (the Progressive Democrats were dissolved on November 8, 2008). The previous coalition no longer had a majority in the lower house. Since June 2007 Fianna Fáil has formed a coalition government together with the Green Party and (until November 2008) the Progressive Democrats.
The Socialist Party left the Dáil.
