Elections for the Dáil Éireann 2011
In Ireland , the 2011 elections for the Dáil Éireann took place on February 25, 2011 . 165 members of the 31st Dáil were determined .
2011 result
The previously strongest party, Fianna Fáil , lost a lot of support in the elections and only achieved 17.4 percent of the votes ( first preference votes ). Fine Gael was the strongest party with 36.1 percent of the vote. The Labor Party was the second strongest party with 19.4 percent of the vote. Sinn Féin received 9.9 percent of the vote. Independent candidates received 12.6 percent of the vote. In addition, the People Before Profit Alliance and the Socialist Party made it into parliament. The Green Party and Progressive Democrats left parliament.
