Shane Ross

Shane Peter Nathaniel Ross (born July 11, 1949 in County Dublin ) is an Irish journalist and was Senator in the Seanad Éireann , the upper house of the Irish Parliament from 1981 to 2011 , and Teachta Dála from 2011 to 2020 .

Ross attended Trinity College in Dublin and the University of Geneva . He studied history and politics at Trinity College.

In 1981, Ross was elected as an Independent to the 15th Seanad Éireann. In the following elections he managed to defend his Senate seat. In addition to his political activities, Rodd works as a business editor for the Sunday Independent and published his first book in 2009, a critical account of the Irish financial and banking crisis since 2008.

In 2016, Ross won the general election in his Dublin constituency. Since May 2016 he has been a member of Enda Kenny's cabinet as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, and since 2017 he has been in Leo Varadkar's cabinet .

In the 2020 elections , he lost his seat in the Dáil Éireann.

Ross is married with two children.
