The FSV Erlangen-Bruck (completely: Football and Sports Club Erlangen-Bruck eV ) is a multi-discipline club with around 1,100 members from the Middle Franconian university town of Erlangen . The association was founded in 1916 in the then still independent municipality of Bruck . In addition to the football department, the club also offers badminton, bowling, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics / gymnastics, volleyball and hiking.

history

The club was founded in 1916 under the name 1. FC Markt Bruck and received the local addition Erlangen-Bruck in the mid-1920s after the incorporation of Bruck into the city of Erlangen . In March 1946, the end of the war, the club merged with the two gymnastics clubs Turnverein 1861 Erlangen-Bruck and Freie Arbeiterturnerschaft Erlangen-Bruck under the current name. Although the two gymnastics clubs separated from the FSV in 1949, it remained under the new name.

In football, the club is one of the constant sizes in Middle Franconia. Since the beginning of the 1950s he played with small interruptions in the district league, from 1996 in the district league. In 2004 he was promoted to the state league for the first time, the second highest Bavarian amateur league. There the club established itself straight away as a top team and only just missed promotion in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons. Finally, in 2008, the biggest success in the club's history was achieved with promotion to the Bayern League . There the FSV finished fifth in the first season. In 2009 the club made a spectacular new addition in Tomáš Galásek , the former captain of the Czech national team. In the 2011/12 season , the promotion to the newly founded Regional League Bavaria should actually take place, but the club got into financial difficulties due to incorrectly calculated social security contributions and fictitious sponsorship contracts, which ultimately led to the waiver of the possible promotion. For a short time, there was even bankruptcy in the room. Under the new coach Normann Wagner, the Bayernliga Nord started an orderly new beginning without major financial expenditures. In 2015 he was relegated to the Northeast Regional League. In 2017 the team returned to the Bayernliga, but had to accept relegation again in 2019 against 1. FC Sand and is now back in the Landesliga Nordost.

The bowling department was founded in 1969. After continuous promotion, the 1st men's team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2001. The league could not be made. But since then the team has been competing in the third-tier Bayernliga.
