Jerry Cronin
Jeremiah "Jerry" Cronin ( Irish Diarmaid Ó Cróinín , born September 15, 1925 in Currabeha , Fermoy , County Cork ; † October 19, 1990 ) was an Irish politician and sat from 1965 to 1981 in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .
Cronin was elected in the 1965 elections in the Cork North-East constituency for the Fianna Fáil in the 18th Dáil Éireann. He was re-elected in 1969, 1973 and 1977. During the 19th Dáil he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries from 1969 to May 9, 1970 and then finally held a ministerial post as Minister of Defense from May 9, 1970 to March 14, 1973. In the elections for the 22nd Dáil in 1981, Cronin did not run. From 1979 to 1984 he was a member of the European Parliament .
