Michael J. Noonan

Michael J. Noonan ( Irish Micheál Ó Nuanáin , born August 4, 1935 , † September 17, 2013 in Milford ) was an Irish politician of the Fianna Fáil and from 1987 to 1989 Irish Minister of Defense .

biography

Noonan, who was originally a farmer , began his political career in 1969 as a candidate for the Fianna Fáil with the first election as Member of Parliament ( Teachta Dála ) in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament . There he represented the Limerick-West constituency until 1997 .

From March 10, 1987 to July 12, 1989, he was Secretary of Defense in the cabinet of Taoiseach Charles J. Haughey .
