Ingrid Tichy-Schreder

Ingrid Tichy-Schreder (born December 3, 1941 in Vienna ) is an Austrian entrepreneur and former politician ( ÖVP ). Tichy-Schreder was a member of the National Council between 1979 and 1999 .

Tichy-Schreder attended elementary school between 1947 and 1951 and then from 1951 to 1959 a secondary school. She then completed a high school graduate course at the commercial academy between 1959 and 1960. Tichy-Schreder then joined the family business in 1960 and became the owner and managing director of Friedrich Schreder GesmbH. In addition, she became active in the wholesale of regional products and has been the sole authorized signatory of "Maximilian Hauser GesmbH & Co KG, trade and agency for hides and skins" in Vienna since 1992. In addition, since 1993 she has been managing director of "ZEG & SCHREDER HandelsgesmbH Vienna".

politics

At the beginning of her political career, Tichy-Schreder was involved in the young economy close to the ÖVP and between 1974 and 1976 held the position of federal chairman of the Young Economy Working Group in the Chamber of Commerce. Between 1975 and 2000 she was also chamber councilor of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and from 1984 deputy district party chairwoman of the ÖVP Vienna-Liesing. In addition, from 1982 to 2000 she headed the department “Women in Business” in the Federal Chamber of Commerce and from 1985 to 2000 was Vice President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.

She initially represented the ÖVP in the National Council from June 5, 1979 to November 4, 1990, and was a member again from November 22, 1990 to November 6, 1994 and from December 15, 1994 to October 28, 1999. She was chair of the economic committee and between 1994 and 1999 deputy chairman of the club. After Tichy-Schreder had resigned from most of her functions in 2000, she was elected President of the European Women's Union (EFU) in 2003, in which she had been involved since 1976. She was last confirmed in this office in 2007.
