Peter Hughes

Peter Hughes ( Irish Peadar Ó hAodha , * before 1921; † June 24, 1954 ) was an Irish politician of the Sinn Féin and the Cumann na nGaedheal .

biography

Hughes was elected as a candidate for Sinn Féin in 1921 as a Member of Parliament ( Teachta Dála ) of the House of Commons ( Dáil Éireann ), where he initially represented the interests of the Louth-Meath constituency until 1923 . Most recently he was one of the supporters of this treaty ( Pro-Treaty ) alongside Arthur Griffith within Sinn Féin, which was split due to the Anglo-Irish Treaty .

After leaving the Sinn Féin, he joined the Cumann na nGaedheal and represented it between 1923 and 1927 for the constituency of Louth in the Dáil.

During this time he was from November 21, 1924 to June 23, 1927 as Secretary of Defense and a member of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State .
