Paul Murphy

Paul Murphy (born April 13, 1983 in Dublin ) is an Irish politician of the Socialist Party .

Murphy earned at University College Dublin the title of Bachelor in Civil Law . In 2001 he became a member of the governing committee of the Socialist Party and in 2010 he became a member of the executive committee.

Murphy was Assistant to MEP Joe Higgins from 2009 to 2011 . After his departure, Murphy took over the mandate in the European Parliament on April 1, 2011.

In 2014, Murphy was elected third member of the Socialist Party in the Irish Parliament with 27 percent of the vote in the Dublin South West constituency.

Because of his origins and upbringing, critics called him a "champagne socialist" who was born with a "silver spoon in his mouth".

Paul Murphy is a graduate of in Clonskeagh nearby German School Dublin ( St. Kilian's German School ). The school forms part of the so-called Eurocampus in the southern suburb of Dublin.
