European elections in Luxembourg 2014
The 2014 European elections in Luxembourg took place on May 25, 2014 as part of the 2014 EU- wide European elections . After the election for the Chambre des Députés was brought forward to October 20, 2013 after the resignation of Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker , the European elections in Luxembourg did not take place for the first time at the same time as the chamber election. Six of the 751 seats in the European Parliament were awarded in Luxembourg .
Suffrage
The election took place according to proportional representation , with the seats being awarded according to the D'Hondt procedure . The whole country is a single constituency . The voters can give six votes, which they can either give to a list or distribute to individual candidates who can also be on different lists. And wherein two votes per candidate can be awarded .
There is compulsory voting for all Luxembourgers between 18 and 75 years of age. EU citizens who have lived in Luxembourg for at least two years and are registered on the electoral roll are also allowed to vote in Luxembourg.
Campaigning parties
Nine parties ran for election. The order of the lists was drawn.

Results
The turnout was 85.5%.
The CSV won clearly and is by far the strongest force in Luxembourg. The governing parties DP, LSAP and déi Gréng, on the other hand, lost considerably. Déi Gréng are for the first time the second strongest force behind the CSV. The LSAP achieved a historically low result of 11.7%. ADR and déi Lénk were able to gain. The KPL lost easily. The Pirate Party and PiD ran for the first time for the European elections. The distribution of seats has not changed since the 2009 European elections.
