The Pirate Party Lëtzebuerg ( German  Piratenpartei Luxemburg , French Parti pirate du Luxembourg ), PPLU for short , is a party in Luxemburg . It was founded on October 4th, 2009 in Luxembourg City by 23 interested parties. It ran for the first time in the 2013 chamber election and received 2.94% of the vote. In the 2014 European elections , the Lëtzebuerg pirate party received 4.23% of the vote. In the 2018 chamber election , she entered the Luxembourg parliament for the first time.

Program

The program of PPLU is based on the Swedish Piratpartiet and other Pirate Parties . She is committed to civil rights, improved data protection and more privacy for private individuals. She calls for more transparency in the state, free access to information and education. In addition, she calls for a fundamental reform of the copyright and patent system and is against any kind of censorship. It also set up an economic program at the end of 2012 and positioned itself on issues such as energy and family policy and banking secrecy. In the election program for the 2013 chamber election, an unconditional basic income in the form of a negative income tax is also required.

The basic principle is grassroots democracy, which allows all members to actively shape the future of the party. Like most parties in Luxembourg, the Pirate Party is strongly pro-European (“Europe without borders”).

organization

Since 2011, the Pirate Party has expanded its national structure with the districts (congruent with the electoral districts of the Grand Duchy) North, East, South and Center. In several municipalities, such as B. Clervaux, Esch-Alzette, Kehlen, Luxembourg City, Pétange and Remich have local sections. We intend to set up further local sections in the future. The latter are congruent with the municipalities of the Grand Duchy.

The president and co-founder Sven Clement is also a member of the Pirate Party Germany and the Pirate Party Switzerland . Vice-President of the party has been Daniel Frères since December 2017. Founding member and longtime Vice President Jerry Weyer also acted as one of the two co-presidents of Pirate Parties International (PPI) from March 2010 to February 2011.

The Lëtzebuerg Pirate Party is a member of Pirate Parties International , the umbrella organization of the international pirate party movement. She is also involved in the founding of the European Pirate Party and supports the organization Pirates Without Borders .
