Tunisian Pirate Party

As Tunisian Pirate Party two parties in Tunisia called. Both see themselves as part of the international movement of pirate parties .

The first Tunisian Pirate Party ( Arabic حزب القراصنة التونسي Hizb al-Qarāṣina at-Tūnisī , French Parti pirate tunisien ) was founded on September 27, 2010. Formal admission was initially denied to the party, which meant thatit was unable toparticipate in the 2011 elections to the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia . On March 12, 2012, it was approved as a political party, making it the first official pirate party on the African continent. She is part of the informal African Pirate Party .

The Pirate Party came to prominence during the 2010/2011 revolution in Tunisia when a number of party members and supporters, including Azyz Amami and Slim Amamou , were arrested for participating in the protests; Amami was personally injured by security forces while in detention. Slim Amamou was appointed Tunisian State Secretary for Youth and Sport a few days after President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali fled in January 2011 . However, Amamou was not a member of the Tunisian Pirate Party, but took part in the establishment of the second Pirate Party.

The Pirate Party of Tunisia ( Arabic حزب القراصنة) was founded on April 7, 2012. Former State Secretary Slim Amamou is the most famous member of the party. The party became a member of Pirate Parties International in April 2013 .
