The Pirate Party of Canada ( French Parti Pirate du Canada ), abbreviated PPCA, was a political party in Canada . The PPCA was founded in June 2009 as part of the international movement of pirate parties . The main focus of the party is a copyright reform and open government . The party was officially registered on April 12, 2010. On November 29, 2010, she stood for the first time in the by-elections to the Canadian House of Commons and thus received official party status. On November 30, 2017, it was deregistered again.

The PPCA first appeared with a candidate in the by-election to the Canadian House of Commons in the constituency of Winnipeg North. Their candidate Jeff Coleman received 0.6% of the vote and was only slightly below the result of the green candidate. In the regular general election on May 2, 2011 , the PPCA ran in 10 constituencies and achieved results of 0.33% to 1.08%, an average of 0.67%.

Since September 27, 2009 the PPCA has been running a Bit torrent tracker. On the CaPT or Captain called tracker only music is distributed under a Creative Commons license. The PPCA is promoting its idea of spreading online media.

Pirate Party Radio is the official radio broadcast of the PPCA, the Pirate Party UK and the United States Pirate Party . The show is broadcast live every Thursday.
