The Partido Pirata (Pirate Party, PIRATA for short ) is a political party in Spain. It was modeled on the Swedish Piratpartiet in the international movement of Pirate Parties and is a member of the international umbrella organization Pirate Parties International . She ran for the first time in the Spanish parliamentary election in 2011 .

As is usual in Spain, there are separate parties in individual provinces. These are the Pirate Party of Catalonia ( Pirates de Catalunya ) and the Pirate Party of Gaul ( Piratas de Galicia ).

Ángel Vázquez Hernández (* 1968) has been its chairman since the beginning of 2011 . He succeeded Carlos Ayala Vargas (* 1980), who has held this office since the party was founded.

In the 2011 local elections, the Pirate Party competed in Madrid and Málaga and received 0.3% of the vote. In the Spanish parliamentary elections 2011 on November 20, 2011, the party competed in the provinces of Castellón , Navarra , Huesca and Teruel and achieved an average of 0.4% of the vote. In the Senate election, which took place at the same time, the party's two candidates received 0.7% and 0.8% of the vote, respectively. In addition, the Pirates des Catalunya competed in the autonomous region of Catalonia and achieved 0.6% in the House of Representatives election and 1.2% in the Senate election.
