Brian Hayes

Brian Hayes (born August 23, 1969 in Dublin ) is a former Irish politician of the Fine Gael . He was Teachta Dála , Member of the European Parliament , Senator and Minister of State.

Life

Hayes attended St. Patrick's College in Maynooth and studied at Trinity College Dublin .

From 1995 he was a member of the Irish House of Lords Seanad Éireann until he was elected in 1997 as a Member of Parliament (Teachta Dála) of the Irish House of Commons Dáil Éireann . After an electoral term, Hayes was again a senator and opposition leader in 2002, which he remained until 2007, when he was re-elected to the lower house, to which he belonged until 2014.

In the Kenny 1 government , he was Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Expenditures and Public Service Reform from March 11, 2011 to May 23, 2014, and also Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance from October 18, 2011.

In the 2014 European elections , Hayes was elected for the Dublin constituency and has been a member of the EPP Group since then . There he was a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with Iraq. In 2019 he did not run again and retired from politics.
