Algeria took part in the 1964 Summer Olympics in the Japanese capital Tokyo with a delegation of a male athlete in seven competitions in one sport. No medals could be won.

The only athlete was the gymnast Mohamed Lazhari , who had competed for France four years earlier . It was the country's first participation in the Summer Olympics after the former French colony gained independence in 1962.
