Anders Eldebrink (born December 11, 1960 in Morjärv ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current coach. Eldebrink completed 165 games for the Swedish national team.

Career

Eldebrink, the younger brother of track and field athlete Kenth Eldebrink , began his career at the age of 16 in the Swedish Elitserien . There he played for Södertälje SK . Eldebrink won the championship with Södertälje in 1985. In the same year he was voted Player of the Year and in 1988 and 1989 MVP . After a two-year stint in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks and the Nordiques de Québec , Eldebrink played in 1990-1995 for the EHC Kloten , with whom he became Swiss champions in the National League A in 1993, 1994 and 1995 .

International

Internationally, he played in the Canada Cup in 1984 and 1987 for the Swedish national team and reached the final of the competition with this in 1984. In 1987 he was part of the world championship team at the ice hockey world championship and in 1988 when he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games . Eldebrink was elected to the World Championship All-Star Team in 1989.

As a trainer

After his career as a player, Eldebrink was general manager of Södertälje SK between 1998 and 2000 . He then looked after Timrå IK as an assistant coach in the 2002/2003 season , before returning to Södertälje SK in 2004 and working there in the same position. After Wladimir Jursinow was dismissed in October 2004 with the Kloten Flyers , the Swede took over the coaching position with the Flyers. His former teammate Felix Hollenstein acted as assistant trainer . While Eldebrinks seven years in office, always reached the Kloten Flyers and the playoffs in 2009 and 2011, the runner-up in the National League A . At the same time, he was assistant coach for the Swedish national team in 2005.

From December 2012 to March 2013 he was the coach of AIK Ishockey and moved back to Switzerland for the playouts, to the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, who are threatened with relegation . After saving the team from relegation, Eldebrink signed a two-year contract until the end of the 2014/15 season . Although the team did not get beyond the last qualifying rank in the following season, his contract was prematurely extended by another year until the end of the 2015/16 season. In April 2015, Eldebrink was sacked after losing to the SCL Tigers . From the 2015/16 season Eldebrink was head coach at Rögle BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan before he was dismissed in November 2017.
