Felix Hollenstein (born April 7, 1965 in Bülach ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who won the Swiss championship four times with the EHC Kloten . From 2004 to 2012 he was assistant coach at Kloten Flyers , and between February 2013 and December 2014 he was the team's head coach. During his playing career, Hollenstein played 650 games in the National League A and 131 international matches, in which he scored 47 goals. His son Denis Hollenstein is also a professional ice hockey player and his niece Silvana Nötzli is a former floorball player.

Career

Felix Hollenstein began his career at EHC Bülach , for which he played until 1985. He then moved to EHC Kloten, to which he would remain loyal for the rest of his active career. Between 1993 and 1996 he and his team won the Swiss championship four times in a row . In 1996 he was the best Swiss playoff scorer. In addition, he was twice the best Swiss scorer in the NLA qualification in his career.

In his last season 2001/02 he came due to a knee injury only to a use during the NLA qualification. During the playoffs of the same season he returned to the ice for one game - with a score of 6-0 in the sixth semi-final game of the series against HC Davos . The Flyers lost the game anyway, were eliminated from the playoffs and Hollenstein ended his career.

As a trainer and functionary

From then on he worked as the Flyers junior trainer before being promoted to Flyers' assistant trainer in 2004. In 2012 Hollenstein had to leave the Flyers because the new owners of the financially troubled club started a fresh start with new people. In February 2013 he was brought back to the club and replaced Tomas Tamfal as head coach. Hollenstein signed a two-year contract. In December 2014 he was released again and replaced by Sean Simpson . In October 2015 he took over the post of interim coach for the Swiss national ice hockey team . From the Arosa Challenge 2015, Hollenstein and Reto von Arx acted as assistant to the new national trainer Patrick Fischer . In July 2016, Hollenstein left office.

Hollenstein has been head of sport at EHC Kloten since 2018.

International

Felix Hollenstein was part of the Swiss national ice hockey team between 1988 and 1997 . He played seven world championships , the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and the 1997 Olympic qualification . He made a total of 131 international matches for Switzerland, in which he scored 47 goals.
